THE ENGLYN ~ An example of Welsh Poetry.


The Englyn is a quatrain that consists of thirty syllables in the form of ten, six, seven and seven syllable lines respectively.
The sixth syllable of the first line introduces the rhyme and the last word of following three lines rhyme with it.
EXAMPLE ;
The look upon your face, your placid smile, (10)
your beauty and your grace (6)
conceal the hurt without trace. (7)
Unburden in my embrace. (7)
