Undisturbed

Post by Mystified » Sun Apr 04, 2010 11:35 am

At the end of a road, in the middle of nowhere
with thatch roofing and stone walls
It sat Undisturbed

Echoes of the dead
from long ago
surrounded the grounds

yet there it sat, undisturbed..

Through war, death and plagues
Famine and strife
Unrelenting and unforgiving

it sat, undisturbed

In the early morning light
When the sun shone from heaven
upon the gates that lead
to the one true place of peace

it still sat undisturbed

And when blood spilled upon the grounds
and life was taken in an instant
where babies cried out for their lost fathers
and mothers mourned their lovers

it sat undisturbed

Years went by,
The roof leaked, The walls cracked
Yet it still sat
Waiting for the day
That people would once again flock
To praise the almighty one
Giving thanks
For life
laughter and love

There it sat, undisturbed and waiting!
"It's better to be hated for who you are, than loved for who you are not!" - Unknown

Dear Mystified. On reading your poem I remembered the one I wrote a long time ago . You have evoked a sense of neglect and waiting. One a human trait. The other a divine one. There is an Indian saying from time immemorial which I roughly translate "Without disciples no god and without god there can be no disciple" which came to my mind. The reader may kindly view the statement not as a conflict but as an image of perception. In many ways I think there are many things which you wanted to say still remain unsaid.__  BeeJay
