gently rest

Post by Tony Fiona » Wed Jul 22, 2009 7:49 am

twilight upon
the bed
candlelight shifting
the dead
memories sifting
endless night or
sprinkles of daylight
dancing shadows shun
a gentle nun
cradles your head
wishing you dead
inspiration fails
slowly sadly
baby girl wails
they turn away
end is nigh
they turn away
good bye

Tony,

I've read this over several times, and although there is a sense of quiet ... a restful feeling as suggests the title, I can't help but feel something sinister at the end. There image of a nun wishing one dead is rather jarring to me. Not saying that is bad .... I just found it interesting, suggesting to the contrary not so gentle of a rest.

:hello: jeanne
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots…

possibly wishing death would take the wretched soul to heaven?
loving the physical body and caring for the soul.
