The Man In The Middle

Post by Debbie » Fri Apr 10, 2009 3:45 pm

The Man In The Middle

On a hill faraway three crosses stood,
Hanging on the middle one was Jesus,
a man so kind and good.

On the left of Him and on the right of Him
also hung two thieves,
One thief denied Jesus,
and the other thief believed.

Below at Jesus’ feet
were centurions parting His garments that day,
Casting their lots and giving onlookers
a mocking display.
Not far away in the distance
in view of the crosses standing on the hill,
Were His followers and mother,
weeping for the righteous man in the middle.

From the time they took Jesus captive
and after all they’d put Him through,
His love never failed, and He cried out
“Father forgive them for they no not what they do.”

Beaten beyond recognition
before He was nailed to that cross,
Jesus the Son of God,
made the choice to be there no matter the cost.

Pierced by nails through his hands and feet,
and a crown of thorns shoved on His head,
Jesus was rejected and broken,
and felt forsaken while He hung there and bled.

Taking one last glance at His accusers
and the followers who believed in and loved Him,
He raised His head one last time
towards His Father in heaven.

Crying “Eli Eli Lama sabachthani”?
My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
The Son of God gave up the ghost at free will,
all because of His love for humanity.

“Truly this is the Son of God,"
are the words uttered by a centurion standing by,”
After he witnessed all that had taken place
and hearing the Savior’s cry.

As they pierced His side with a sword,
water and blood began to flow,
and darkness filled the skies,
The veil in the temple was rent in two,
and so many dead saints were now alive.

Taken down from the cross that day was Jesus,
the Man who hung on the one in the middle,
And then He was wrapped in clean linen cloth
and carried down that hill.

Jesus was later laid in a tomb,
and a great stone rolled in the entrance to seal Him in,
But neither death nor a stone could hold Him,
on the third day He rose again.

Jesus met with His followers,
and gave them words of comfort and instructions too heed,
Saying, “preach the gospel to all mankind;
heal the sick and my sheep go feed.”

“Lo I am with you until the end of the world,” He said,
and then ascended back into heaven to stay,
Where He sits with His Father
watching over all of His creation today.

Even now, Jesus waits for every one of you,
and forever stands in the middle,
As a mediator between man and God,
because of His love and sacrifice on Calvary’s hill.

Who ever you are, and where ever you are,
when you call on Jesus He’ll meet with you there,
And to your Heavenly Father,
He’ll bring all of your petitions and prayers,

Yes…on a hill faraway three crosses stood,
Hanging on the middle cross was Jesus,
a man so kind and so good.

All He asks of you today
is to be like one of those thieves,
Don’t turn Him away, but ask for forgiveness
and only believe.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Truly from the Holy Spirit to your pen. Thank you dear angel for bringing the true message of this celebration. for reminding us that we do not celebrate Jesus' death but his gift and sacrifice and his resurrection.
