**and love doesn't stop tonight.** Poem of the Week 4/22/07
Winner: Poem of the Week: April 22, 2007
and love doesn't stop tonighe

what a lovely night to take a drive.
as the moon lit its own path down the streets we've never traveled down.
and never again.
hold my hand and we'll make it through.
I'll hold on to it for as long as tonight, that I promise.
we were never a waste.
the lights seem dimmer now, without you.
and I find myself having to search for emotion rather than it just being there.

let it go.

I wish I could.
as the accident begun slow motion took effect.
hands squeezed tighter. tighter. tighter.
tears can't help but come down my face.
sirens, lights.. I can't hear a thing.
I'm squeezing your hand so tight but I guess that is one sided now.
I love you boy and I'm forever going to miss you.
and last night the curtain closed, his exit has been done
and no one even noticed his entrance.
poor girl, she never saw what was coming.
____
I wrote this the day after a friend was killed in a car accident.
eight weeks ago tuesday. him and his fiance in the car.. out of six people she was the only one to survive. both 19 and they were going to get married the next day.
true stories are the ones that cut the deepest.
especially this one to me.

Maybe I should of buried the butterfly instead of picking it apart.

This is one of my favourite pieces by you, Jen. My issue (as I'm sure you know) is the font size but that's just because I'm getting old and my eyes are not what they used to be.
Every time I read this poem I cry because it's so very heartfelt and touching. It's so very vivid, which I think is something that makes it even more poignant.
