The Politics Of Poetry
The politics of poetry is read,
by critical assessment's tempered tongues
Sharp pens have written sonnets now and then,
to post here for approval yet again.
The politics of poetry is said,
by typing some endorsement on the web
Where poets leave a poem composed alone
In hopes of comments where they've left it shown.
A liberal poet reader may pretend
to praise the right wing meter of a friend
Writes accolades before his mouse hits send,
then wonders why his words always offend.
Conservatives who share poetic zeal
Are often known to pen Gospel appeals
From pulpits high above poets ideals
Their verse is mostly dealing with last meals
And moderates can never find their voice
Perhaps such indecision is their choice.

Hello bags, I like the way you've brought the left and the right together here bags and then so quickly parted them again. So there is or isn't a common ground in Poetry my friend? For me the answer is not. Conservatives and the Gospel or the Religous right. A powerful inciting piece. Altough there's a lot of ambiguity here my friend. Your intention?
Take me back, so far back, adjust this fate. Afeared lately of pen, in abscence of light. The fear I might stumble upon a plagiarized soul. Wipe this dark slate clean, regain my thought. Add the words that rekindle my depth of soul.

Thanks Michael,... always a pleasure to have your comments,....and yes the ambiguity was and is intentional.

Hello bags, I just read this again and realize that subliminally you may have inspired me to write Poet Reveal. Spooky my friend Spooky. It's amazing what can come from interacting here. Not over there but here with the Critique Group. So I suppose now that you would expect a large chunk of my royalties and even notoriety. I still owe you big time for Ten Thousand Years and you know what that gotcha. Take Care
