(the finger tendrils of whispered poisons dropped as dust to the floor about Tom's feet as the light of an angel's voice seeped its way through the closed door)

...Tom my boy, what are you doing? You're scaring me man

(Tom stood and lifted his tired eyes toward the light words momentarily, but the whispers, ever-flowing from the deep parts of the cage in front of him, returned in a menacing urgency to climb and circle the fading light in Tom's eyes, and he slowly sat back on the stool facing the same grey-black bars, barely hearing the rumble come from that darkest of places)
