My favorite dessert is cherry pie with vanilla ice cream.
hypothesis:
A tentative explanation for an observation, phenomenon, or scientific problem that can be tested by further investigation.
Something taken to be true for the purpose of argument or investigation; an assumption.
The antecedent of a conditional statement
Why would I want a "personal" definition of hypothesis? Webster's internationally acclaimed dictionary services do a much better job than I could at guessing from inexperience and lack of education.
BTW, the quote is "An it harm none, do thy will. Blessed Be." The clincher here is that your "will" not cause any harm under any definition.

i'm not sure if Moushka exactly answered the question, so i'll take it from there... that's a good question, gordy. it would be interesting to hear what people's understanding of the word is....
for me, when i expect someone to give me respect, i expect that person not to belittle or degrade my opnions/views, no matter how different that may be from that person's. i don't expect that my views will be accepted in terms of agreed with, but at least i should be given the room to follow my beliefs/opinions. i suppose in a more simplified way, it means more understanding-- not everyone can put themselves in someone else's shoes and see it from that perspective, but at least an attempt at understanding is giving respect.
