If it weren't for bad luck we'd have no luck

Post by Eternum 1 » Wed Jan 22, 2014 12:00 pm

Well the news I've been dreading came today. My sons MRI shows he has MS. Lesions around his left eye and orb as well as frontal lobe among other signs like migraines. He just finished his apprenticeship as a journeyman pipe fitter in the oil patch and he's only 39. He is pretending he's not scared for his families future but he is. Life sure has a way of kicking us when we aren't looking.

It also loves to kick us when we are already down... sad to hear, Dennis. There are treatments now that can reduce the effects of MS, and there is the hope of stem cell replacement therapy for the demyelinated neural sheaths. It is a new clinical trial. I just saw a short video blurb yesterday or the day before, but now don't remember if it was TV or Facebook... :-( Have to google it.

There's a piece on web m.d. about research being done at U.Cal in San Francisco and Cedars Sinai in L.A. Thanks for the tip, Heinz. :hello:

Yes there is hope with MS, where a more dire diagnosis would be devastating and I'm reminded of a old saying, that friends are like stars, you may not see them under cloudy skies but they are there. Thanks for being my friend Heinz.

Very much appreciate the hugs and your message of sympathy, Nekot. Will be travelling north on Thursday to spend a week with Jake and family. Thanks for the warm thoughts that fill the sails along the way.

Hello ET, So sorry to hear the news my friend. If I can be of any assistance I'm here for you. My wife Lucy retired from nursing after 45 years. The WNY community has a large population of MS patients, it's suppose to be do to our high rate of chemical exposure. Lucy spent a big part of her career working with MS patients. Feel free to contact her if you wish. Take Care
Take me back, so far back, adjust this fate. Afeared lately of pen, in abscence of light. The fear I might stumble upon a plagiarized soul. Wipe this dark slate clean, regain my thought. Add the words that rekindle my depth of soul.

From: Summers Discontent 7-24-02

Sincerely

Michael J Pease

I'll be sure to take you up on that suggestion when questions arise, as no doubt they will. Thanks/merci to you and to Lucille "votre jolie femme" for the offer and the sentiment behind it.
