My boyfriend took me to see a curling draw last week as an early Valentine's Day celebration because our schedules are not allowing us time to get together this week. I'm getting a photo I took of the Barrie skyline that John really likes made into an 8" x 10" print and I'm going to frame it for him.

Leaving in the morning to go to a private cabin near Tofino which is on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Spring storms, walks on the beach, fireplace and hot-tub. Hand dipped chocolates from a local artisan already ordered along with a masseuse to take away any stress from driving through the snowy passes along the way.

And of course fresh sea food like crab, salmon, oysters, etc.

I bought a nice romantic jar of jalapenos for that special someone. She asked, "What are these for?" I couldn't help but grin when I answered, "Foreplay."

I consider myself a Jalapeno connisieur. I never get the jarred, or canned ones. To get the most out a jalapeno you need to eat them right off the Jalapeno bush. ( by the by,...I'm also a Serrano pepper professional, and a Scotch Bonet or Habanero hero) Anything you need to know about these varieties,...you know who to ask. :computer:

I've chomped down on a Serano and gnawed at the Habanero and found them reminiscent of the birds eye pepper used in Thai recipes. All Chili peppers originated in Mexico and South America and were spread to lands where the Spainish colonials went; so it's not a surprise that the warmest ones are featured in tropical climes where the spicier the better is the rule and not the exception.

There is something about combining hot with sweet that always warms the cockles. I agree with LS on that score.

Jalapeno Whackamole is a distant cousin to avocado based gawkamole. A local favorite in environs such as West Virginia where Possum pie has been combined with refired beans and hot peppers. It's not tex-mex. It's Real McCoys road kill meets 7 mules for Sister Sarah in a pepper pot.

It burns your lips and everything else it touches to the point that when the moonshine kicks in and the coal oil lamp goes out; you can't even tell it's your cousin gving you some serious spit swappin action.
