Awakened from her slumber,
An unfamiliar weight in my hands.
A porcelain face with glassy eyes, locked into place,
Staring into the air.

Impossible lips that will never smile,
Victorian lace and satin ribbons bind her tightly.
Imbued with the authority of the dead,
A guardian of generations.

Her present tour of duty complete,
I carefully lower her back into her box.

Deliciously Dark!

A touch of Poe with a hint of Lovecraft, perhaps? Very, very, nice write!

Thanks Lonnie, I'm glad you liked it. There could be some Poe or Lovecraft in there, although it wasn't intentional. I'm flattered by the suggestion though.
