High Tide

Post by Travis » Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:04 am

The goodbyes
the farewells
the empty shells
the sea
the sand
the hand
receding
leaving land
going
going
gone
a wave of emotion
the ocean
holding on
holding fast
getting past
the sorrow and tears
overcoming fears
having hope
learning to cope
as high tide
rumbles
rolling in
feeling the rush
hands waving
reaching
meeting
once again...

Emotion, like tides of an ocean. Ebb and flow, wax and wane.

Your poem reminds me of one of my favourite musical pieces, by Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn, the Hebrides Overture Opus 26, (commonly known as Fingal's Cave overture). Emotions expressed as echoing sounds of the sea!

Fascinating!

Just the type of thing I enjoy when feeling a bit depressed! Thanks for sharing!
