Precious child of mine
As I watch you sleep
For a brief moment
You seem so peaceful
But dark circles
Around your eyes
Against the back-drop of your pale skin
Remind me of your pain
I so wish
I could take it from you
You are far too young and beautiful
For illness to rob you
Of this God-given life
I pray the Breath
That gave you life
Will once again restore you
And heal you
As only He can do
So others can experience this love
He has created
And we all can once again
Feel those tiny arms
Reach out
Wrapping joyously around our hearts
Returning an awesome and unfailing love…

Spent my internship and a total of 9 years in a childrens' hospital. Your poem reminds me of why I took a post after that, in a general hospital!

As I laid in the hospital surrounded by children and elders facing the same treatment and possible outcome as myself I was always drawn to there expressions, their total recognizable familiarity that I too carried .... another refreshing reminder where I have been! Yet survived to write about it! ty as you see many emotions I felt !

perhaps one day I will post the poem I wrote called My Demise ... still to hard to do though! this was very encouraging for me to do it!

Thanks for your comments! I hope to one day read the poem you spoke of...after reading your work, it sounds as though you may have a great deal to share which in turn could inspire and help others...afterall, isn't that what it's really all about?

Well to tell you the truth it had never been about that for me. My writing had been more of a venting tool. It was not until a few years ago that I had begun to share my poetry and learned that it was actually appreciate. So I had continued to share them from then on. I have received many valuable comments stateing how my poetry has seemed to help my readers understand and get through some things. Those comments have made me feel very good and have pushed me to change and grow in my style and my topics.

Perhaps at the time you didn't see it that way, but you are inspiring and helping others with your writing today. I find it an amazing thing how one can take a hurt and turn into a help so others might heal...to me, poetry in motion...thanks for sharing...
