My heart is a stone
Hard and heavy
Rough and ragged
Comfortably numb
Years of tears
Have run their course
Dry are the windows
To my vacuumed view
But a wicked world
Tosses and turns
Spinning uncontrollably
Darkness deceives
Masquerades as light
Toss me in a shallow pond
Wash away the dirt and stains
Soften the soul
Allow me to skip and dance
Across waves of emotion
Overcoming the pain
Claiming victory
As redeemed ripples
Reach out to touch a dying world…
