The Last Goodbye
I’ve lived my life
In the only way I knew
Regrets?
I have a few
The women I’ve loved,
and the women I’ve lost
By god,
There’s been a few
The drinks I’ve drank
In the smoke hazed bars
They number a million
Plus a few
The fights I’ve had
And the foes I’ve made
I’ve no regrets
Their comeuppance was due.
.
To the friends I’ve known
And the kids I’ve sown
Fond memories
I’ll remember forever
For the mistakes I’ve made
And the wrongs I’ve done
They are regrets
I’ll always rue
Now the Grim Reaper
An hourglass in his hand
Points to the grains of time
He’s here to collect his due
I heave a last sigh
Then go I
Farewell, goodbye
Adieu.
