welcome home

Post by C.R. Ebowski » Sat Feb 14, 2009 8:46 pm

if it were not for today
then all would be lost
in a life forgotten
by insignificant others
mounds of dirt
piled onto a grave
forgotten
ignored
by the passersby
ignoring the history
but today is new
a special meaning
undisturbed
unforgivable
unrecognizable
as people hurry by
unawake and ignorant
a man is brushed by
strangers without faces
idiots without manners
he relentlessly stares
attentive
aware
of the impending situation
unfolding in sequence
an outcome designed
for the unworthy to succeed
except a divine intervention
which he securely steps in
disregarding death
ignoring the norms
duty
honor
country
is taught to believe
core ethics of military training
taunted by unbelievers
understood by those effected
he did his duty
and now lays besides
brethrens
soldiers
men
another grave bearing a flag
"Nobody can get the truth out of me because even I don't know what it is. I keep myself in a constant state of utter confusion."

C.R.,

A strong and poignant poem.... one which I feel grabs the reader from the very first line to the very emotional ending.

... thank you for writing and sharing... I deeply appreciate your words...

.jeanne.
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots…
