About the New Members' Cafe forum

Post by Berlie » Fri Nov 05, 2004 5:02 pm

This forum is a place for new members of the Poetry Pages to post their poetry before starting to post in the general forums.

Often new members posts get overlooked because you are new and the other members haven't gotten a chance to get to know you. This gives your poems more time to be read and noticed by the other members without being buried in the other forums.

You are still free to post in the other forums of course but this will probably be a good starting place for your poems.

Whoa. I check in late on a Friday evening and there's a whole new forum! Just 24 hours after I registered and posted my first poem, over in General.

What a thoughful idea. I shall test out a new poem forthwith.

I figure that once you've made 100 to 150 posts you're no longer quite that "new"...  At that point I suspect I'll start moving topics to other appropriate forums.

I have started moving poems from the farthest back page(s) into other forums. In some cases I have left a temporary "moved" ghost topic. These will disappear periodically. If you remember a post that you made in this forum and cannot find it, check your profile for "topics started by you" and it'll show up in the forum where I've moved it.

I check daily..its so great to see somebody has read your poem..and sometimes somebody has commented..I think somebody understands that sometimes we write because we are lonely or a bit lost..I seldom write when I am floating on cloud nine..and maybe we or I write because we just hope somebody notices us..

I love poetry, but unfortunately I'm no a poet. I do however, require the help from the poetry community. I have a few lines of a poem that I would like to find. I don't remember the name of it, but is this the right place to post what I have? If not, could someone please direct me to a forum or different website that can help me? Thanks so much.

Post the lines and I'll try to find it for you. There is a "questions" forum for future reference. Welcome to the Poetry Pages!

Thanks so much for your help. The lines are as follows: By the pity revealed in thy longest hour, forsaken self-bound self empited of power. Thou who even in death has all heaven in sight, look down on us gently who journey by night.
