In Memories
Today doesn't belong to me.
I gave all, risked all in a wager
against implacable odds,
and I lost myself to you.
Now, this life's not mine,
this dreadful sense of waiting,
waiting for the sun to rise again,
waiting for your smile
to light my way again.
In your absence I exist,
a verisimilitude of life,
a loop of random programming
repeated inanely,
as if there were meaning
in its mathematic calculations.
There is none.
This course I still chart
without you,
but I'm alone in this dream,
this fantasy anticipating ecstasy,
now forever lost
yet still living, in vain,
in memories.
I gave all, risked all in a wager
against implacable odds,
and I lost myself to you.
Now, this life's not mine,
this dreadful sense of waiting,
waiting for the sun to rise again,
waiting for your smile
to light my way again.
In your absence I exist,
a verisimilitude of life,
a loop of random programming
repeated inanely,
as if there were meaning
in its mathematic calculations.
There is none.
This course I still chart
without you,
but I'm alone in this dream,
this fantasy anticipating ecstasy,
now forever lost
yet still living, in vain,
in memories.

Re: In Memories
I feel the loss in this piece, a grieving that has passed the first shock and living into the reality.
Poignantly stated.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: In Memories
God speed, in the healing with your sense of loss. I too can feel your pain in your poem.
how ever slow
speeds up
as we grow

very elegant...deep and profound
