Disillusioned.

Post by poeticpiers reborn » Tue Jan 29, 2013 8:10 am

Disillusioned.

I have grown sick of false pretence.
The lies which masquerade as truth.
Advertisements which cause offence
Which make false claims they cannot prove..

False claims which merit stern reproof
What can they say in self defence?
But platitudes which do not soothe
I have grown sick of false pretence.

Their lies may make commercial sense.
They offer no convincing proof.
The pay no heed to consequence
The lies which masquerade as truth.

Happily ignoring truth
The advertisers lack the sense.
To recognise their lies won’t soothe.
Advertisements which cause offence.

Their lies insult our common sense
But they continue to pursue
A campaign based on false pretence.
They make false claims they cannot prove.

Why should they bother with the truth
When lies produce more recompense
Though they profess to offer proof
Their protestations make no sense.
I have grown sick.

Yes,...it's true. Disillusionment is everywhere. Especially on the "Telly" these days. At least you don't have to suffer through reality TV in the UK,...yet. It turns your brains to putty if you watch too much. Our newest reality TV star is "Honey Boo Boo" who is a 5 or six year old kid from somewhere down south. Alabama I think,.....Fascinating family.
I think what it does,...is make the viewer feel lucky he's not as stupid as this group of misfits. To me it's just another example of the deterioration,...or stagnation of our society. We need to have more educational programs on TV like "Swamp People". :computer:
I prefer to keep an open mind,....but not so much that my brains fall out.- Carl Sagan
Your brain is like an umbrella. It only works when it's open- Someone Smart

tv caters to the lowest common denominator.. Reality Tv bears as much resemblance to reality as soya protein to meat and is just as tasteless
