Inner Child
by heinzs

Today
I looked into the mirror
and saw you
staring out through my eyes.
Wistful
with that mischievous glint
unable to disguise the pain
and longing.
"Soon..." I promised
yet one more time,
but you have long since
relinquished hope
resigned to the occasional outburst.
"Without you I cannot survive"
I said
and you returned my smile.

Thank you soo much for re-posting this.

Anyone who reads this needs to take a long hard look into a mirror and search for themselves. Seek the real meaning of your own existance and scrape for answers.

I said it once before and I'll say it again........... This has to be one of the most heart-fealt poems ever made.

I agree with negatvone. If you looked into the dictionary under introspection, this would be the poetic defintion.

enjoyed very much, Heinzs

Heinz once again dear heart you have amazed me..
it is when we allow the child in us to die.. that we are finished..
stay young at heart and you'll never grow old..

So amazingly true Heinzs.

I understand exactly what you mean. We are so caught up in the spur of the moment in trying times we forget all about that need for mistchif (don't think I spelled that right) and excitement. Thank you for reminding me Heinzs

I like this...we all need to gaze into the mirror and see our inner child...sometimes our lives just get so hectic that we can't see the child anymore..thanks for posting this

Back to the top. I was watching Small Soldiers the movie and thought of this due to the name of the Toy Store. Ironically the name of it is "The Inner Child"

BTW, my nomination for a Community Favorite stands Iron-clad.

Jim
