I was your orange.
You peeled me until I was raw and dug in your fingers and pulled me apart.
And I glowed for you;
I gave in when you put me to your lips.
You are my pool of wax.
I lowered myself into you and you encased me in warmth.
And my body burned,
but you covered my mouth and there wasn't a scream.
Well, our day will come,
when you've turned cold and there's no more of me left to taste.
But that isn't now.
And I don't want a crack so sudden and strong.
So maybe I'll rot from being only half-eaten.
And maybe you'll turn to stone with no one to set your flame.
And maybe it's better to find out through action,
but I swear I am selfish and don't want you to go.

Re: Upon Your Leaving
All of this was well said, in a very tasteful way
"A woman with the courage to step out into the unknown, risking temporary loneliness for a shot at lasting joy, is more than a "single." She's singular. Instead of defining herself by what she lacks - a relationship with a man - she defines herself by what she has: a relationship with God." ~from Dawn Eden's 'The Thrill of the Chaste'
