Cocoon!

Post by GoodRedRoad » Sun Jul 13, 2008 3:56 pm

You were the ribbon that wrapped around my bones
when I forgot that I had skin.

You slid over my eyes until all I saw was you.
You thread yourself around my ears
until your voice was the only thing I truly heard.
And then your scent was everywhere
and I felt satin on my tongue
and knew that taste was you.

A cocoon of such meaningless beauty;
I'll come out of this in an unimaginable color.
You'll hang in shreads from in between my fingers.
You'll leave fibers in my eyelashes.

And I'll balance on my toes
and my lips will turn to leaves
and I'll be cold from all the wind that comes
from the blows they use to chop me down.

Well, curling your toes is bad for your posture.
Don't try to use them to grab onto the pavement.
If you don't want to fall, don't bind yourself so tightly.
Goddamn I wish I knew how.
