What is this book? Basically is a collection of work by poets from the Poetry Pages. For our first volume we gathered together 19 poets who submitted up to 15 of their finest work. These poet's are:
Alisdaire O' Caoimph, Bags, Berlie, CG Labb, debab, delsol, ehli'schild, Gillian, Gordy, Heinzs, Janmew (also did cover art), Leysa, Lil gray, Michael J. Pease, Moongem, tattooedbeatmessiah, Ven, running wolf and Zubairi Atamvaku Nasseem.
The book is available direct through the publisher at http://www.1stbooks.com/bookview/16373 and also on-line at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and some other on-line book sellers.
We expect to continue the idea by releasing additional volumes and give other poets from the pages a chance to be included. Stay tuned for Volume II!

From the cover of Volume I:
A Collection of Voices from Around the World is more than just a poetry compilation. It is a partnership of poets from around the globe brought together by an internet poetry forum. That forum, poetrypages.com, has been the home of many a fine poet since it was established in 1999.
This collection sets itself apart from those published by other poetry forums in several ways. Perhaps most importantly, it is done by the poets themselves; testament to the kinship that exists there.
Nineteen member poets came together for this first edition. Working together, those poets compiled what they deemed to be the best of their works. The selections vary in subject and style, offering something for virtually every fan of poetry.
“Diverse” is one word that might be used in describing the authors frequenting poetrypages.com. Our poets come from nearly every background and walk of life, belief system and culture. They hail from all around the world: the United States, Canada, Africa and the United Kingdom, including natives of Scotland and Bavaria. Writing styles range from haiku to free verse and virtually everything in between.
Though situation, style and perspective differ individually, they have been drawn together by common love of the written word. In sharing, they have not only grown in their craft, but have come to appreciate the beauty and worth of seeing life through the eyes of another. It is in that spirit they have endeavored into this unique project; to share that which has become so dear.

Please post discussions/questions/comments in this thread that are for the overall book and not directed at one of the individual authors.

It really does look great in print! We're still catching our breaths from the last one, but the workings are there. It should be easier now that we've all gotten our feet wet.

Volume II will be starting soon, information inside
We will soon be starting work on Volume II. Some of the authors that were in the first book will also be in the second but we will have some spots available for others. The target number of authors we wish to include in volume II is 20. Once we confirm how many authors that were in the first book that wish to be in the second we will open up the additional spots. Senior members of the Poetry Pages, members who have been around for more than 6 months and have more than 300 posts, will be given the first shot at being in Volume II. If there are still spots to be filled after that then we will then open up the remaining spots to everyone.
What to expect:
Expect this project to take about 6 months.
The book is self published and each author in the book will be asked to contribute to the cost of publishing the book. This should be about $50 each author.
Each author will be asked to submit 5-15 of their poems. The amount of poems submitted depends on the length of the poem. ideally each poet will have about 15 pages in the book (6x9 inch pages).
Each author will be asked to sign a copyright permission form and mail it in that grants permission for their poetry to be published in the book.
Authors will be given access to a special forum on these boards where we will discus the books progress, make decisions, etc.
Don't expect to get rich. We are not doing this to make money but to have our work in print and available to others. It was decided for the first volume that the money made from book sales will go back to help finance the poetry pages website. If however the sales go above a certain dollar amount then we will start looking at ways for the money made to start going back to the authors.
---------------
Soon there will be a post made in the Senior members forum seeing who is interested in being in Volume II.
Stay tuned....

Thank you Berlie. I'll of course be glad to help out where ever you need
me. I'll be able to send the $50 quite soon. Please advise where and
how it should be sent. Again, I very much appreciate the invitation to
participate. Call on me anytime should you need any kind of assistance.
