What It Was In The First Place

Post by bags123 » Thu Jul 10, 2014 8:31 am

What It Was In The First Place

Can we pack it all up and begin this again
Stored away in the attic with yesterday's news
Tiny mice will consume it, and soon we'll forget
What it was in the first place that brought us regrets

Can we make believe none of this really happened
In a dream nothing seen can be quite as it seems
Leaving there our transgressions where they'll soon decay
What it was in the first place it isn't today.

Can we throw it away as if it's never been
Torn to pieces so small that they drift on the wind
Then haphazardly landing on unfertile ground
What it was in the first place today can't be found

I hope that's a thumb,..and not the middle one. KNowing Heinz the way I do though, (not intimately of course, and never in person, only through our interactions via Poetry Pages) I'd have to assume that it is,..in fact,...a thumb. Therefore,....I will take it as a compliment. Thank you Heinz.

The smile should clue you in... I don't smile when I use a different finger.
