"A touch of vermouth with honey". Apt description for being orphaned, whether by folly or circumstance. Appreciate deeply, your kind words, Ninian.

It is I ,should be thanking you Jeanne, and all the caring people who replied to a sensitive topic. Love abides. We all carry our burdens but with thoughtful people such as you and the other poets among us; the weight is as a feather.

Pax con amor,

ET~
It is impossible to know the pain another carries...thank you for sharing this piece written straight from the heart. My sister Joan commited suicide more than 20 years ago and it is still an aching sorrow for all of us she left. All I can do is hold close the belief that love lives on, it always lives on, in spite of sorrow and not being able to really know what pain drives a person to end their own life. She remains what she always was...loved and cherished.
Your poem touched me very much~ *hug*

Thanks Allura. True one does not really know the burdens carried by other hearts, yet we know they and we have our apportioned share.

Pax vobiscum,

A beautiful tribute ET, deeply moving.

I don't want to ask to personal of a question, so if this inappropriate my apologies and just let me know.

Are the grandchildren your children? Are they an age where you have been able to share with them regarding your mum?

Thank you for sharing this part of your life....

So very painful to experience and very courageous to express it. You wrote it simply and beautifully.

Jake and Jessica are my children and the grandchildren Ruth never survived to see and perhaps help her to see that her purpose here was still unfulfilled. Since her departure I have been blessed with 4 grandchildren of my own, Chloe, Seth, Logan and Griffen.

I have shared the memory of Ruth with those old enough to benefit, for she is an integral part of who we are in both strength and frailty.
