A Childs Silent Tears "abuse victim"

Post by Debbie » Tue Feb 08, 2005 3:16 pm

This is a poem I wrote for a young man who approched me to help him.. he was a victim.. He asked me if I could tell his story.. and here it is..this poem is given now out to children who've been abused. Save The Children Foundation here in Canada are the ones distributing the poem..

A Child’s Silent Tears

For many years a little boy wished upon a voice,
To say the words, STOP IT,
he was too small to know he had a choice.
Far too young to understand,
what was right or wrong,
A little boy couldn’t say NO,
the perpetrator was too big and strong.

Afraid to call for help,
he cried his many Silent Tears,
And endured the pain and torment in his heart
for seven long years.
Every waking moment he asks the question
WHY until this very day,
WHY, didn’t someone tell me,
shouting STOP was okay?

Yesterday’s child
never discovered someone with a voice,
To teach him real love,
and what it meant to have free choice.
Today’s child will have the chance,
because the child of yesterday,
Is breaking the hidden silence,
and revealing the perpetrators today.

If the hearts of yesterdays children
are embraced by todays society,There won't be as many of
Tomorrow’s children crying silently.
In every child’s ear, the words
“To Say Stop Is Okay,”Must be permeated in their minds,
to free children from being raped today.

Children are trusting;
they follow what they're taught,
So it’s time to help them break the silence..
and the perpetrators caught.

There’s nothing more beautiful than a childs laughter
echoing in your ears,
So please welcome our victimized children with open arms,
and end another
CHILD’S SILENT TEARS.

I must say to you.. I held this young man in my arms.. he was about 30.. and when I heard him sobbing I cried with him.. his tears were no longer silent..
EVERY 4 SECONDS A CHILD IS BEING RAPED
It’s time our Government and our Society begin to open up their eyes to A CHILD’S SILENT TEARS.
It’s time to make a Law that stipulates ALL CHLDREN are to be taught when it’s good to SAY STOP TO SAY NO. It should be taught in SCHOOLS, INSTITUTUIONS, HOMES, where ever possible.
We make big efforts to teach our children how to get out of a house when they smell smoke. Lets work towards and even GREATER need of life and death. TEACH our children what LOVE IS and to UNDERSTAND
THE DIFFERENCE.
Become A Voice For A Child Today Tell Them It’s Okay to Say STOP.

A very touchy tribute...

I dont know why our society has changed so much... In the older days there was not much of this happening

 Great tribute and well written
And as I watch you in this light
I never realized your eyes were full of
So many colors.

:crying: I cried the whole way through. It was amazing. How upsetting it is to know that every 5 sec a child is being raped. Unfortunately, I can relate to abuse in 2... almost 3 but just 2 counts.... thank God. It's truely a hard Very very long destructive journey. Nice write Debbie. Truely and honor to be talking to you! Truely and Honor  you are an angel.

I know this forum does not autoprune, however I only just came across this poem from  Debbie and feel that it is something that should not remain hidden in the dust of time but brought back into the light to remind people that in our humanity it is sad to say some things never change that should and the children need to understand what being a child should mean.

When I read this poem I am reminded of all that I hear on the news..and it is sickening....We must pray for our children..
the young man for whom this poem was written is out there today making a difference in some childs life...by
getting involved to see that this doesn't happen to others...and for those who are going through the horror...this young
man befriends them and helps them through....

It's sad to see how many people this hits home with...myself included. It speaks to the sad truth of the piece and the realities in which we live today. I have young children and the thought of them being hurt and never saying anything terrifies me. I completely agree that this is a message that should be taught everywhere possible. Our children need to be able to have a childhood rather than having to grow up so quickly... our world is ever moving and it already expects them to grow up too fast without putting the extra added pressure of abuse on them. Ironicaly i was listening to Martina McBride's Concrete Angel when I read this. Couldn't help but sit here crying. This is a great piece with a great message. May it bring awareness to the minds of every set of eyes that pass over it and may those minds share it with others they know so the message that we need to protect our children spreads like the wildfires so many set today.
