Hello again Raven Moon. Matthew Hopkins was the Witchfinder general in England during the civil war. It's a grim tale worth looking up. p.s. human beings are always "hanged", only meat is "hung". Thanks again for this poem, it really is superb. It's nice to see original subjects tackled, there is too much publishing of angst ridden diaries on these pages lately.

Human beings are always "hanged", only meat is "hung".
Meat, parliments, paintings, curtains and "like a donkey" are hung :mrgreen: people are hanged according to the my Collins English dictionary but the online American dictionaries that I've just checked all have human execution listed as hung so I guess it's one of those "depends which side of the pond you come" from things. :computer:
