I Don’t Eat Eggs

I placed a cap upon an egg
To protect its fragile head.
A hollow shell,
This cavity is the yolk’s hell,
Until it spills upon my pan
When its fate is known no other than
Denied.
It’s fried.

This brought to mind my son. A few years ago a gaggle of middle-aged folks were getting together for a reunion. My 15-year old son asked if we were all bringing our eggs. I looked at him quizically. He responded, "For egg therapy." "Ya'll can dress the eggs up and have them talk to each other so you can work out all ya'lls issues."

Well...kind of a side track there Odd D.


I enjoyed your egg poem. Clever. Now I can see this one being written during biology....or home ec .... or psychology!!!!

Your prediction is an incredibly good one... Funny thing is, it was done in my Bio II class. I dunno why exactly I wrote it. Kind of a time I needed a laugh, and provided one to myself, despite its lack of vocalization.
