Oralpedism

Post by Graeme » Wed May 02, 2007 8:20 pm

Oralpedism

It was such a tiny nibble,
hardly worth mentioning.
Honest
I couldn't help my self.
I was amazed at how
quickly I did it,
metatarsals,
tarsals
slid in so easily.
Suddenly
I was choking
wishing I could spit
the whole thing out
wondering
what could have
possessed
me.
This above all to thine own self be true.

how many of us have found ourselves in this position and felt so very very small....

Thank for reading and replying to my poem, Nekot, Bags, and Ninan

How do you like my new word for the Graeme Dictionary

Oralpedism - the art of putting one's foot in one's mouth!
This above all to thine own self be true.

DOH!! on me. lololol

Upon first reading I looked up your title, couldn't find the word, and took the pedism as childlike (pediatric) instead of footlike. lol As I was reading Ninian's response, the light bulb lit up.

Clever, clever! lol

This word should be added to the dictionary, me thinks.

I loved your little piece and as for the title, Bravo! it is just simply a great find!
I think we have all suffered from "oralpedism", the words just seem to pop out from nowhere even before we have a chance to realize what we are saying, sometimes it can be funny and other time well errrr...it can be sort of quite embarassing
Luckly my "oralpedism" is getting more managable with the years
