by a recurring dream
lone Blitzer howls
yawn Hannity screams

echo of drums
whispers of war
hired hands
castigating the poor

I need to retreat
escape from it all
I'm feeling the fire
will you answer the call?

you calm my dysfunction
ease my anxiety
you've got a head for fun
a nose for notoriety

my mind's made up
only one thing to do
using my imagination
the rest is up to you

I'm a mess in the daytime
lost in my private hell
when I get you alone
only time will tell

caffeine and cold calls
a virtual dead heat
the dark horse in shades
and so I'm dead meat

you calm my dysfunction
ease my anxiety
a taste for the twisted
in every variety

my mind's made up
all that's left to do
silence the skeptics
display the vulgar and true

my sleep is improving
it's a recurring theme
now that you're real
I am living the dream.
