I've been hurt
I've been had
too shallow
to be sad
these words
you can understand
we were wed
and divorced
apologies
became forced
the last laugh
was canned
finally I see
through a haze of self-deception
your mate-in-waiting
wrecked at the reception
now you make
quite the pair
the saints
like sinners they stare
it's like I'm
walking on glass
for I've had
more than my fill
my impatience
testing my will
first-rate lies
delivered with class
all I see through
the lens colored rose
you led by the hook
through my willing nose
we were one
now we are two
don't know what's
become of you
I suspect
the fates have smiled
so alone
I will tread
marked by
futility and dread
the path of the beguiled.
