-Liquid Blue-

Post by buttterflies » Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:09 pm

i haven't posted in quite awhile... been fighting with the creativity cells in my brain.. they're waning... but here's a recent one...

Liquid Blue

I awoke with a start,
choked by the pre-dawn hour
Your ghost of an arm slipped away
as sleep fled my eyes

I felt your invisible breath
upon my neck;
your imagined fingers
resting on my back

I heard my heart cracking,
splitting apart at the seams,
dissolving the threads that held us together
The pain I held in my arms
soaked into my skin,
painting me with bloody guilt

I touched your invisible hands,
entwining our fingers together,
tracing the veins I had known so well;
I pressed my lips to your fingertips
the way I had countless times,
but now only in my head

I saw your ghost look at me,
the liquid blue of your eyes glimmering,
fading faster as I breathed;
I heard your missing voice
whisper love in my ear,
following your fingers through my hair

My bed shone with dawn’s pale light;
blue as your eyes,
blue as my heart.
I awoke startled and alone,
and only stared into the empty blue space.

Dauntless the slug-horn to my lips I set,
And blew. ``Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came.''
