Ode of Absent Love

My life is filled with her absence.
But it is in this negation that love finds
Its ultimate source. Its fulfilment
Cannot but flow through its vastness.

Like the rains after summer,
When riverbeds are dry, anxious to swell
And reshape the land that dares encroach;
Taming and nourishing the earth,
Once so famished and fallow.

Beauty where there once was none
Is more than merely beautiful;
Like the ‘diamond in the rough’
Or the ‘flower in a pot of dirt’.
Beacons of hope and love’s prospering.

She is my flower and my diamond.
My jewel who draws breath,
(I do believe that the air was made
And meant to fill Her lungs, alone.
But that is worth another Ode itself)
Ready to blossom. Ready to shine.

But so long as I tend this empty garden,
This garden of soil and rocks,
I sow the seeds of that life’s bounty,
That one day my life will swell
With an abundance of Her love.
