same idiot

repeating in monotone

what the crowds want to hear

altho what's been said

makes no logic

and common sense

went out the window

but it doesn't matter

ten years from now

there will will be another idiot

repeating the same crap

from a different perspective

yet the lesson is never learned

leaving one wondering

Why?

but talking to that crowd

is like talking to a fence post

you can lead a horse to water

but you can't make him drink

within those shades of green

where spring has just begun

everything is blooming

tree buds are just beginning to show

give them another two weeks

and the leaves will be back again

finally the warmth will return

walking down the blood red sandstone

where a creek flows

against the willows

prickly pair cactus

pops up from time to time

and if you keep your eyes open

a cotton tail runs

finding the nearest hole

or a blue belly lizard is finding the warmth

of the sun

on an outcrop of sandstone

beauty of nature

smiles in the horizon

all one has to do

is follow their eyes

and look around

we chose to meet

those eyes

that smile in the morning

leaving a warmth

within one's heart

touching in communion

a moment never forgotten

yet the memory remains

yes shadows of yesterday

find their way

even though we don't always see them

dancing in the dark

finding that warmth

between two

where that connection is met

and the spark of romance

is lit

finding the need

where a moment

see's a smile

touching a memory

worth keeping

within the evening

where arms encircle

and find the gentleness needed

within that walking silence

where echoes rise in the distance

parallel in that reach

yet something else is needed

and has one wanting

searching from corner to corner

will one find that moment

only time will tell

but until you take that first step

you'll never know

will we ever understand

not to make the same mistake

over and over

or will we become just another page

in history

never learning wisdom

with what is in front of us

we don't listen

to those who have walked

in those shoes before

and those lessons

are hard learned

with those shaking their heads

wondering

why?

that broken edge

over looking the village

high in the mountains

where the eagles cry

and wolves howl

tasting the wild

high in the horizon

those morning clouds

that float like feathers in the sky

and if one listens

they hear the cry of the raven

in the distant blue

those longitudes

of one's soul

out of nothing at all

that rage

that cries

all through the night

yet leaves one wondering

what the hell did I do wrong?

maybe nothing

maybe everything

yet without communication

we will never know

will we?

you walked out

without saying anything at all

leaving me cold

another road down the trail

where we walked

our own way

well it's raining cats and dogs here

yea the downpour has started

and my cat is pacing the floor

she doesn't like the thunder

sensitive hearing applies

life continues

in all its glory

one page at a time

here I am

letting time slip by

thorns that reach

into those passions

within the soul

yet in the pain

one must learn to forgive

the past is the past

you can't change what happened

so you simply move on

otherwise the regrets

will eat you alive

make you bitter

and old

here I am dancing in the dark

with you on my mind

listening to a song

that makes me feel alive again

something I wasn't sure I'd feel

in this lifetime

yet here we are

within the melody

and yes the harmony as well

walking through a path

I have no idea

of where it might lead

but looks like I'm headed that way

so I minus as well

get used to the ride

here I am listening to Eric Clapton

blues has that effect on me

it touches deep

those memories reach

like echoes reflecting

within the soul

I listen to the guitar

reaching places that make me sigh

I don't know why

they just do

mirrors within the heart

like waves in the ocean

that never depart

Reaching past that yesterday

where tomorrow isn't even considered

only today matters

live for the now

in all that you do

reach out and grab life by the throat

in all its gusto

don't live in what could be

or dwell in the past

for the regrets will eat you alive

follow that path

wherever it might lead

and move forward

find what makes you happy

scratching bellies of four kittens

I'm raising

even though they can be a hand full

with all the mischief that they can cause

they bring the smiles in me

why?

I see the twinkle in their eyes

of this world that they see

and for the most part

it's all they know

only being three months old

wide eyed and furry tails

crawling all over my porch

finding their way in life

in today's summer sun
