that somehow don't really matter

shattered memories

where we hear themselves

touch on recollections

that make one wince



and yet

something finds a way

to make one smile

when they least expect it



it's funny

what one remembers

caves echo

within the darkness

wherein then evocation

touches beyond that blindness

humid currents

lost within the breeze

and yet in the silence

beauty finds that voice

oblivious in the element

thinking about happy accidents

and you come into my life

neither of us expected

what's to come

yet here we are

the smile on my face

is simply apparent

and my heart is content

your eyes touch me

in places that I never thought imaginable

your arms find a way to complete me

my soul is yours in all eternity

yet somehow I miss my old friend

I feel my own regrets

rushing at time in its rapids

other times flowing within a set pace

inviting those smiles

to those that know it

funny how life can take one

on a path unexpected

but its the twists and turns

within the undiscovered

that sometimes make one smile

revealing things you don't know

about yourself

but surprise...

they are there

yes it seems at times

the blind is leading the blind

but that's how life goes

no one said it was going to be

a perfect staircase

but you make your way

and find what you need

where life pulsates

like a beating heart

I hear it so clearly

beat by beat

that rush within

searing in time

yet it holds a promise

consecrated

within this universe

those days of youth

where you'd find a cool creek

to swim in

or wade

catching minnows, frogs, toads, crayfish

and a multitude of other creatures

that lived in the area

slapping mosquitoes, deerfly and horseflies

that always seemed to bite

when least expected

but that's life

in the thick of it

but somehow I wouldn't miss it

memories created

for a lifetime

ripped through that direction

which pulled us into

a thousand parts

leaving us confused

in those backward days

laid in the past

where one couldn't tell

which way to go

disheveled

in those wayward ways

yes..

scratching their head

as life

sometimes

says to most

it's up to you

but we have no clue
