A Step and A Stone
I DON’T ENVY YOUR DAD CUZ HE CAN CALL YOU SON
MY STEPSON IS WHAT YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN
BECAUSE I KNOW GOD PLACED YOU IN MY LIFE
TO GET ME ONE STEP CLOSER TO HIM

GOD GAVE ME A STEP
WHEN ALL I FELT WAS NEGLECTED
HE GAVE ME A STEP SO I COULD CLIMB ON THE ROCK
WHO IS THE STONE THAT THE BUILDER REJECTED

I WAS LOST AND WANDERING WITHOUT A CLUE
WHEN GOD SENT ME A LITTLE STEP TO HELP ME RISE ABOVE
SO I COULD LOOK AROUND AT WHERE ID BEEN
AND ALSO WHERE I COULD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR LOVE

SO IF GOD ORDERS MY STEPS
AND I KNOW THAT HE DOES
THEN I FEEL THAT YOU WERE THE FIRST STEP
I TOOK TOWARDS HIS LOVE

AND THE LOVE THAT YOU GAVE TO ME
AND THAT I TRIED TO GIVE BACK EVEN MORE
WAS AN EXAMPLE FOR ME OF THE LOVE
THAT I SHOULDVE BEEN STEPPING TOWARD

SO INSTEAD OF STEPPING ON YOU
AND CLINGING TIGHTLY TO YOUR NEED FOR ME
I WILL TAKE YOUR HAND IN MINE
AND TRY TO BE THE EXAMPLE I NEED TO BE

I WAS NOT A PART OF YOUR LIFE
BUT YOU GLADLY ADOPTED ME INTO YOUR FAMILY
SETTING A PERFECT EXAMPLE
OF WHAT CHRIST WOULD DO FOR ME

SO IF SOMEDAY YOU SHOULD WANDER
OFF THE PATH YOU NEED TO WALK
JUST SAY” I NEED A STEP DAD
TO HELP ME BACK ON THE ROCK

NOW THERE ARE TWO SONS
WHO MAKE MY HOUSE A HOME
ONE IS A STEP
THE OTHER IS A STONE

Wow Gordy

this has to be read by others for sure..
I felt the step part.. as I'm a step mom...and yet I felt the adopted part where God has adopted us Gentiles also into his family..
Jesus the corner stone..

this is lovely gordy

it makes me think of what it must have been like for my parents

i have a step brother, full sister, and a half sister

although we have not used those titles for each other since right after our parents got married

my youngest sister (pixie dust here at the pages) was what finally brought our family together

we have all always said that God sent her to bind us

anyway

i really liked this alot gordy

thank you for posting this

and thank you everyone who bumped it up so that i got my attention
