In these days of lost tomorrows
When we see the works of man
Crumble down like alabaster
And fly away like wind and sand
When we see the dark days coming
And they loom like tidal waves
O’er the lands the good Lord gave us
It’s nice to know that Jesus saves
Evil thrives when good men tarry
When they see but do not act
In these days of lost tomorrows
It’s the good we now detract
Wars and waste and famine
In a world so full of graves
And a curse bemoans the living
It’s nice to know that Jesus saves
Lay me down in fields of green
Or cast me to the churning sea
Burn my body down to ashes
Or leave my bones beneath a tree
I’ll rest so very easy
No matter how you make my grave
I’ll sleep in blessed assurance
For I know that Jesus saves
