Welcome Addition

Post by audiofool » Wed Aug 27, 2014 1:57 am

I can't help who I'm chosen to love
I thank my stars above
it was you
for this cause I was born
forsaken, forlorn
now all things are new

I was unclean, forbidden
I kept my true feelings hidden
until the star arose
my heart comatose

they call this love
an abomination
unnatural and a sin
what is more pure, more holy
than two souls sharing, caring
bringing the sheaves in?

welcome one another
as Christ welcomed you
do unto others
as you'd have done unto you

it sounds good on paper
or spoken into air
this life is but a vapor
it matters most to care

the least of these my brothers
and my sisters, Jesus did say
as long as there is still time
let us follow in the Way

the body is one
composed of many parts
living well is easy
dying is an art

it is a shame
a baneful, hurtful thing
to deny God's love to a child
of the king of all kings

friend of sinners
master of time and space
lord of the sabbath
source of infinite grace

I can't help who I'm chosen to love
I thank the Father above
it was you
I am born anew.

I think this is very well written. Reminds me of the song "One Love" by Maclamore. (spelling unsure) Anyways, it is unclear of what kind of love you are speaking (which is good for the sake of the art of poetry) My mind brought me, as the reader, to conclude that you are speaking of a same sex relationship type of love. Is my conclusion correct? I pondered the possibility of the love of Christ. I'm unsure. Anyways, very good piece here.

Thanks, frozentears.

I did have same-sex relationships in mind with this one. But then, in America's not-too-distant past, other types of relationships were frowned upon as well. Don't tell, but I married a woman who was baptized (as an infant) a Catholic!

I pray for the day when we can step back and separate our personal dislikes, prejudices, and cultural taboos from the inerrant truth of God's eternal love in Christ.

God's love is unconditional. I pray that more people will come to realize this and give their lives to Him. We come to Him as we are. We don't wait until we are perfect and without sin. Because not one of us is perfect or without sin! After growing in God' grace and goodness, if we examine ourselves and want to make some changes in our lives, then Jesus and the Holy Spirit that lives in us will help us grow and mature in Christ. Over time, the love of Jesus changes our lives and we want to be more like Him. That's my understanding anyway. Sin does not keep us from everlasting life. Because God (Jesus) died for our sins and now we are under grace. We can't do anything that will make us good enough to get into Heaven. It's a free gift. Amen!
