He Lives!

Post by Travis » Tue Apr 15, 2014 7:21 pm

It was the darkest day in history
My LORD and Savior, Jesus
died an excruciating and painful death all for me
i was there
in the crowd
Vociferous and loud
A rhythmical crescendo chanting
Raging and ranting,
"Crucify Him !"
"Crucify Him!"
Being apathetic,
Peevish and pathetic
i turned to deny Him
Drowning in the mob and mingled mayhem
The Roman soldiers stripped Him
As i defied and mocked Him
Kicked and spat on Him
My tongue, tormenting and taunting
But words of disgust began haunting my inner being
Broken windows to my soul
Stared in utter disbelief at what i was seeing
A slender, silent, innocent man quietly stands
His hands tied
Yet the love in His eyes
Catches me by surprise
A soft, soulful stare showers me with grace
This strong, simple soul lovingly and unselfishly took my place
Suddenly and without warning
A large lead-tipped whip hummed through the air
Creating a flood of blood everywhere
41 times the impact severed His back
Scarlet showers sprayed where He had stood
A mutilated and unrecognizable man now barely able to stand from the weight of a 40 pound crossbar of wood
And as i glaringly gazed upon the red sea
A strong stirring within realized He had prepared a Way for me
A braided crown of thorns stuck to His scalp and bone
His mangled body hanging in all humility on a wooden splintered throne
My King of Glory soon took my rightful place
Crimson tears streaming down His face
The Roman soldier's sharpened sword
Painfully pierced the side of my LORD
And with His last drink
My hardened heart began to sink
And i cried out in all my emptiness
To repent and confess
"It is finished!", He cries
And my old self dies
The earth began to violently shake
The moon and stars mournfully make
A lackluster light as the scarlet sky grows bleak and dark
His unfailing and unending love softening the blisters on my heart
My sins washed by the blood of the Lamb who was slain
All strongholds broken in Jesus' name
In three days all Creation stands and sings
O' Death where is thy sting?
The trees danced and embraced
My salvation purchased and pardoned through amazing grace!
Standing and living in His glory
i realize my story is all about Him
He redeems!
He revives!
He forgives!
Halleluiah the Victory is His!
The tomb is empty
Death is defeated
My Savior lives!
Yes, He lives!
Jesus lives!
