Forgiveness

Post by Travis » Fri Feb 10, 2012 1:15 pm

As i pound this nail
It painfully pierces Your mighty hand
And i shamefully stand pleading
Waiting, watching You bleeding
As drops of blood silently stain and remain
Yet ever so slowly
Softly roll down Your sun-scorched
And blistered face
And as i trace your crimson tears of sorrow
Love and torment
This moment grows bleak and dark
On a soulful journey i am about to embark
Leaving me to wonder
As i kneel and ponder, how?
How could i have buried this thorn of crowns upon Your brow?
How many times will I crucify You?
Deny and Defy You?
Laugh at and mock You?
Spit at and slander You?
Beat and batter you
Until i can no longer recognize You?
And yet
How quickly i forget
Your wounds, they bleed for my sin
And time and time again
You forgave me
For it is your mission to save me
But i deem myself unworthy of your endless
And unconditional love
So i continue to snub thee
Yet You relentlessly seek me out
And continue to love me
And the depths of my soul cry
I want to know why?
WHY???
And in Your last gasping breath you reply,
“It is finished”…

I wonder how many of us could see ourselves on Golgotha driving in the nails and setting the crown of thorns. And yet this part of Christ's message is for the end of our days to reassure us we are forgiven and loved. It is the part of His message regarding how we should LIVE that so many of us fail to heed.

You paint a very vivid picture with your words.

Thank you, Heinzs...for your kind remarks. And yes, it is a part of His message so many fail to heed; perhaps we should all take a journey back to Golgotha in our minds more often and focus on His unfailing love for each one of us...

Wow Travis. This is simply beautiful and very heart retching and joyous all at the same time. If that even makes sense. It's' just wow. Where have you been by the way Travis... We could have definitely used your poetic mind around here a long time ago. And I agree with Pops on everything he said too. Pops by the way is Heinzs. :hello:

:hello: Travis, welcome back. You have been missed. Please stick around this time. You write that you are unworthy of His love. How untrue! And He would not want you to feel this way. Because He is Lord, we are worthy and proud to be His children. None of us measures up. But He knows this! That's why He died for us. Anyway, that is just my opinion, friend. Before you left us in January, I think it was, you were upbeat and seemed happy. I would love to see more of that side of you.
