Aug 2006
The conch blows and the wind is silent
The stars peep out
Frozen in their curiosity;
Ready to witness the force
The Beautiful-One breathes.
The conch swells
Air sucked in with trembling breath
Fear drives evil to roads end
The Beautiful-One
Always, always unstoppable.
The stars are overjoyed
Waiting, for the kiss of the chakra[wheel]
That will churn ocean and sky.
Time endless, before now or then
Left are you and me
Beckoned by the confluence of stars.
O human! be still
Seek shelter like the reed
That nestles inside flute and deed
Of the Beautiful-One.

[An explanation for those who may appreciate the need for one on such a theme.: The poem refers to Lord Krishna who is also known as Ananta –the One without beginning or end and often portrayed with a flute through which emanates celestial music for the beleaguered soul. HE is also believed to use THE WHEEL as a force object and on another plane symbolizes Time itself. To me the poem is about the universal act of surrender so necessary to reap the blessings of the Lord.]
