Seven winters from now

As burning winds blow none seem to know
any place to be safe and warm
like in ages long ago when the heralds of woe
foretold of this atomic storm--
pray your flight is not in winter
lost in the darkest December
seeking fires to show the way
through the valley of shadows
of death pires dimming glow
brings an end to another sun-less day--
as in a lament of Poe few will seek to know
ill prepared for the killing blow
when like dust we're all blown away.
