Master Peace

She watches the lady bug
as it crawls across her hand
She wonders what it will do next
and why it sticks its wings out like that
suddenly it takes flight, she giggles wildly
as it lands on the bill of my cap

Later that day I get a hug
and a note she wrote for only me
that says, "Daddy I love you,"
"can I stay up late and watch t.v.?"
we both giggle wildly, as I
Put her in bed and grab the remote control

Later that night, I tuck her in snug
This little masterpiece God gave to me
I can hardly wait until tomorrow, wondr'ng
What she'll do next, who she'll grow up to be
My heart beats in my chest wildly
As I slip off into bed and prepare to sleep

Once again the Master watches over me
As I'm drifting off to sleep in peace
He giggles and the angels dance wildly
As He wonders what tomorow will bring
He spends the night beaming over me
As only God can do

Glowing and admiring
His imperfect masterpiece

Gordy, so sorry to have missed this most inspired write. The mirroring of your love for your child with God's love for us was a beautiful testimony...thank you for sharing it with us. We miss your appearance here and hope it becomes more frequent...

Love it Gordy. Having reared 6 myself (only one left home at present). I can instantly empathize with moments with my daughters like the ones you describe so eloquently in your poem.

PS- It gets harder when they reach the teenage years. Believe me.
They're not as cuddly then. :mrgreen:

That really tugs at my heart since my children are grown now. But I have grandchildren, and although I can't see them except once in a while, I can relate to the feeling. And can't we all experience that feeling with God?! Thanks for sharing this, it's very well done.

What a loving poem. The love was overflowing. All that free love that comes from God is not stagnant with you. It's continuing, expanding, moving forward, growing. Life is lovely. I'm missing out on my child's daily giggles but God takes good care of me.
