What is the name for God
who bestirs the dreams
of honeybees
with loves
nectar
as they move through honeycombs
in their sweet
dance?
What is the name for God
aware of a leafs fall
inside the seasons of your life
a connection within the infinite
nimbus of your umbilical
soul
What is the name for God
that sees itself amongst a billion faces
all reflections of the same
divine
love
a name so elegant it defies human speech
in or outside the mathematics of time
as a innocent honeybees sting
is forgiven
thus are we
as none need be
found guilty.
What
would you name this God
blinking at you
with your own
eyes
The Hindu says Namaste
to the divine within you
The Mayan says hello
to my other self
Such a God
needs no temple
or name
to find

Beautiful, just beautiful. It is a pleasure to read.

Thanks Bags, not sure if "Imagine" influenced this particular piece but it certainly influenced my thought processes from the day I first heard it.
Thanks Burdick and the kittens are offering field mice to al Lah in your name. I knew the meaning of the Arab avatar for God although the persistance of all the Abrahmics in declaring there is no God but YHWH or A Lah or through Jesus is somewhat baffling since it's more cultural then metaphysical to do so.
Thanks Triple O. A Lah is just another avatar in my lexicon. The Hindu gave us the concept of the soul, the Jew the ideal of a personal God for all, the Christian of the supremacy of love and the Muslim justice for all. They all have worth and that which marks them as kin is so much more then the nitpicking that separates them.
Thanks for the kind words Imsane!

hmmm...more useless thoughts/memories (do I get another kitten? perhaps a half a kitten?)
the most ancient term/name of God in our tradition is "el (al) shadai" (not sure of the spelling here, but it means "the mountain")....spelling is always tricky because of the old tradition of spelling as it sounds.

Ven,
Thanks ever so much for the hearts and thumbs up
burdick:
Shadai was indeed one of the earliest Hebrew terms for a God amongst their pantheon although a minor deity until the release from Babylon when YVH was mentioned in scroll discovered fortuitously by the refugees about to depart and the Exodus entered their tribal history. An interesting note often overlooked is that those Hebrews still living in Israel did not share the tale of Exodus and Moses but were taught a new Torah by the returning exiles from ancient Iraq.
Tom:
I'm honored that this poem has struck a harmonic chord with you. I honor your deep sense of the spiritual as well. This is a fine oases, these poetry pages where pilgrimssuch as you and I may meet and share our stories of the journey home.

....much appreciation for such a loving and wise write....
...jeanne...
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots… ~
