"It's For You, Daddy"
At the end of each work filled day
When she hears his keys rattle in the door
Leaving her toys right where they lay
She jumps up, running across the bedroom floor
And she would take that faith-filled leap
Three steps away from him, with outstretched hands
The fear-free faith of a loving trusting child
Propelling her straight into the hands of her waiting dad
Later as he sat in his favorite chair to relax
She'd start bringing toys, one by one, to her dad
"It's for you, Daddy," she'd said, adding more to the stacks
'Til she had given him everything that she had
So raise your hands, your toys, your praise
Your strichnine and your snakes
Raise your crucifix, your beads and banners
It doesn't matter, raise whatever it takes
Sing your praise-filled song
With instruments crashing loudly
Or with one single solitary voice so small
Just stand firm and strong, just do it proudly
He doesn't really need a thing from you
Nothing big nor medium or small
No, there's not one deed He needs you to do
Yet He desires you give Him your all
So go ahead
Take the leap into His lap
But
Don't look down
and
Don't look back
