Bring Back
by Tom Watson

Bring back your dreams
Tell me again your plans, schemes...

Oh, the cold nights linger
passing slowly like a teasing finger
tracing the lines of your once bright smile
in the watery tears of this trial.

Shout to me your voice
Whether in love, hate, pain..your choice...

Still silence greets the morning light
Deafening in its hollow echoes from your eternal night
Your laughter is rumpled up in empty sheets
in drying tapes, cracking under times blazing heat..

Hold me in impossible love,
no chance of returns to places we dreamed of...

This old heart beats, tired, a machine
Only, its caverns emptying of what once was seen
as crowded with your presence;
your giving, taking, laughing, crying...fading in the distance...

Bring back to this tired life
purpose, joy, shared dreams...my lost wife...

 to all of you for your kind words....

3t, thank you for the thoughts....maybe, through the mercy of God, we shall be together again...sorry to have missed seeing you during your visit to S.F.

Duchess, blessings to you for the kind words...sometimes the back rooms of the heart need to release the pressure I guess..

Barbie, it is always a joy to hear from you...actually she is, was, my only love, until I knew the Lord that is...but anyway, thank you for reading and commenting so kindly.

Sarah, how wonderful to hear from you...I don't know if I ever welcomed you to the pages, so let me do so now...(just me, sincerely, since the others are snoozing away somewhere) welcome to the pages!! I have read your works and you are a beautiful writer which shows you are a beautiful soul...sorry my comments have been lacking...been that way with most people here lately....but I am trying to fix that failing...Thanks so much for your kind words...she left this world over two and a half years ago....yet every once in a while I still need to purge the tears...

What.... I did not reply to your poem?@!? :smack:
Tom Watson wrote: Bring back your dreams
Tell me again your plans, schemes...
I like that verse... Its full of giving hope to someone... says you really care and want to listen...
Tom Watson wrote: Oh, the cold nights linger

tracing the lines of your once bright smile
in the watery tears of this trial.
This is so sad... yet very very romantic...
Tom Watson wrote: Shout to me your voice
Whether in love, hate, pain..your choice...
You must really miss her voice...
Tom Watson wrote: Still silence greets the morning light
Deafening in its hollow echoes from your eternal night
Your laughter is rumpled up in empty sheets
in drying tapes, cracking under times blazing heat..
I like that verse... I dont know how it made me feel... but there was something so powerful in that verse... Just four lines said so much about your love...
Tom Watson wrote: Hold me in impossible love,
no chance of returns to places we dreamed of...
This just says you want so much to be lost with her beside you... holding you... Its such a sweet line... the more I read... the more I like!
Tom Watson wrote: This old heart beats, tired, a machine
Only, its caverns emptying of what once was seen
as crowded with your presence;
your giving, taking, laughing, crying...fading in the distance...
I really loved this verse as well... and such a sad verse...
Tom Watson wrote: Bring back to this tired life
purpose, joy, shared dreams...my lost wife...
Do hold on in there... God probably needed her more... and may he give you the strength to live on...

Tom... the whole poem was such a beautiful one... I really liked the rhymes, the verses... the words... everything was so well placed...

Dear Tom... I dont know what to say about your loss... may you find the strength to hold on... while the sweet memories linger on in your heart.

Sorry for another lengthy reply... I do that a lot now days dont I??

Take care, Dr. Watson...

Dream, I appreciate that you took the time to comment on this....I had thought these emotions had faded away, but, no, apparently they were just lurking in that special cavern of my heart....

Tom, thank you for your warm welcome wishes and your comments on my work. Those emotions never totally disappear. Time has a way of lessening those emotions but it never takes them away. Your wife will always live in your heart so she is never truly gone, IMO. Again, it is a beautiful poem.

Heartbreaking poetry. Words were meticulously chosen, and the feeling of loss is deeply felt by this reader. Well done Tom.
