Holding Onto Hate
Nobody can tell me who I should forgive
My hatred grows stronger each day that I live
When someone has stolen and lied from the start
They don't deserve pity or part in one's heart
I know precious Jesus might tell you I'm wrong
Forgiveness helps all of us just get along
There's no need to tell me what Jesus would do
It seems really likely he'd dislike it too
Don't you ever tell me it's time to make peace
I'll not shake the hand of a liar and a theif
Who's actions spawned misery, tears and heartache
I will never forgive I'll hold on to my hate
Perhaps when I'm older than I am right now
As memory fades beneath my greying brow
And all of my grievances turn into dust
By then I'll have learned not to hate if I must

Re: Holding Onto Hate
I really like this!
I've not been here for a while, but I'm glad this is the first post I read when I came back.
I must admit, though, I tripped up a little on the last line of the first verse, to me, it doesn't seem to flow as well as the rest of the piece
