She touches me
In the shadow of my day
A soft caress on my furrowed brow
As I walk my crooked way
A gentle kiss from aged lips
A whisper through a tree
Gone but not forgotten
She is always there for me
She has never left my side
Though years ago her body died
She has seen me through my joys
And has been a comfort when I’ve cried
A life she brought into this world
With a love quite like no other
Given unconditionally
The love of my dear mother
I hear her in the kitchen
Making dinner to this day
Her footsteps on the carpet
An inner voice, I hear her say;
“I love you sonny boy”
I miss her so - but this I know
Her love “right now” surrounds me
And the little boy that I once was - still says,
I love you to, mommy.
