What use is a painting?
I have practical concerns
colors cling to the canvas
counting the day's returns
juvenile and overrated
form lacking functionality
engineered over-consumption
maximizes profitability
there's an app for that
said the cat with no hat
I keep to the tried-and-true
hemmed in by a dog named blue
it's a phase only in passing
someday it will make sense
the spoils to the victor go
no more sitting on the fence
a classic case of regression
yearning for forgotten youth
quit the bottle for the last time
for cold cash denied the truth
there's a fix for that
said the tire treading a flat
you may be inanimate
still the advice is adequate
if I try to conform
someday I'll fit in
two can play that game
but only one may win
can we forego the hackneyed plot
all the literary conventions?
prudence says we should not
the hero mocks our pretensions
juvenile and a bestseller
exceeding expectations
the critics are crow-eaters
the triumph of imagination.

I liked your poem and the imagery you used.
