Dear citizen,

do you think I really care about your trifling concerns?
after you've made your paltry donation to my campaign
do you really think I'd give a moment's notice
to the notice of foreclosure fastened to the enclosure
you call a dwelling

as your clunker gets repossessed
and you're forced into bankruptcy
because of mounting medical bills?

do you think I lose a minute of sleep
worrying about your precious offspring
proudly wearing the uniform of the nation's military
in some God-forsaken strip of desert
in a middle eastern country
where oil and minerals sit for the taking?

hell, I won't even acknowledge your loss
if your seed takes his or her life
while serving this country
because that would be a disgrace
to so many brave men and women
who daily put their lives on the line
to protect our vital national interests.

so, you see, I've got bigger fish to fry
between the banksters and the gangsters
and the gun runners and the titans of industry
and trying to rope in a few members of the opposition
to put through some important legislation
certain to improve our competitive stance
on the global marketplace
(it's a win/win/win)

I just can't bother with the petty details
of a harried housewife in Brooklyn
or an out-of-work truck driver in Michigan
or a struggling retiree in FLA

after the election
after we secure another four years
to fulfill the American people's agenda
of peace and prosperity
with lower taxes and mutual sacrifice for all
I promise I will address your concerns.
